Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe Capacity & Performance Engineer to lead monitoring, planning, and optimization across the IBM z/OS environment for healthcare, pharmacy, and retail applications.

You will partner with development, infrastructure, DBAs, and operations to analyze workload behavior, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies that improve efficiency and reduce MIPS consumption. This role includes on-call duties and collaboration across time zones.

Qualifications

5+ years supporting enterprise IBM mainframe environments including z/OS.
5+ years capacity planning and performance engineering in large-scale environments.
3+ years forecasting capacity needs and driving workload optimization.
3+ years using enterprise mainframe monitoring and performance tools.
2+ years advanced Excel reporting and data analysis.

Responsibilities

Monitor, analyze, and optimize enterprise mainframe resource utilization and capacity.
Conduct capacity planning, forecasting, trend analysis, and real-time diagnostics.
Identify high-resource consumers and implement optimization strategies to reduce MIPS.
Deliver utilization reports and capacity recommendations for investments and upgrades.
Provide technical leadership across testing, production support, and on-call rotation.
