Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe Capacity & Performance Engineer to join our Enterprise Infrastructure organization. You will lead capacity planning, workload analysis, and performance engineering across the IBM z/OS mainframe environment, ensuring scalable, reliable services for healthcare, pharmacy, and retail applications.

Collaborate across IT teams, provide real-time diagnostics, participate in on-call rotations, and guide major capacity initiatives while controlling costs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years supporting enterprise IBM mainframe environments (z/OS, IBM Z).
• 5+ years in capacity planning and performance engineering in large-scale environments.
• 3+ years analyzing utilization trends and driving workload optimization.
• 3+ years using mainframe monitoring/PM tools to resolve bottlenecks.
• 2+ years using Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel reporting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, analyze, and optimize mainframe resource utilization and capacity.
• Conduct capacity planning, forecasting, trend analysis, and real-time performance diagnostics.
• Identify high-resource consumers, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimization strategies to reduce MIPS.
• Develop utilization reports and capacity recommendations to support infrastructure investments.
• Provide technical leadership for testing, QA, production support, and on-call incident response.
