Jabil in Prince George, Virginia is seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer - LV Switchgear to act as the senior technical authority for mechanical architecture, design governance, validation strategy, and lifecycle support of LV switchgear products. The role requires cross-program leadership and collaboration with customers, global teams, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and regulatory groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• 12+ years of mechanical engineering experience in LV switchgear or power distribution equipment.
• Senior technical leadership across multiple programs and launches.
• Advanced CAD proficiency in Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of UL 891/UL 1558, IEC 61439, NEMA, IEEE C37.20.1 standards.

Responsibilities

• Own and govern mechanical architecture for LV switchgear across programs.
• Translate requirements into scalable specifications and roadmaps.
• Lead system-level mechanical architecture decisions for enclosure systems and busbar supports.
• Define design criteria for structural integrity, GD&T, and assembly.
• Guide validation strategies including thermal, environmental, and short-circuit testing.
• Drive DFM/ DFA/ DFR/ VAVE initiatives and supplier collaboration.
• Mentor engineers and develop reusable standards and templates.
• Collaborate with global teams to align technical decisions with program goals.
