Job summary

Senior Lifestyle is seeking a dedicated Medication Technician to provide safe administration of prescribed medications and general nursing care for residents in our Assisted Living community. You will support residents with ADLs, monitor vital signs, and document care in daily logs, while maintaining strict MAR/TAR procedures.

Responsibilities include supervising self-administered meds, ordering supplies, storing meds properly, and ensuring compliance with federal/state regulations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1+ months of experience; Senior Living preferred.
• Current Medication Technician certification depending on state regulations.
• Acceptable proficiency in English to perform job duties and communicate with staff and residents.
• Basic computer proficiency including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Supervise self-administered medication in compliance with regulations and guidelines.
• Count and sign narcotics with authorized personnel before accessing keys.
• Order medications and treatments from pharmacy or notify responsible party when supply is low.
• Notify supervisor if supplies are low or not received.
• Verify medicine against MAR and report discrepancies to pharmacy/H&W.
• Store medications properly and separate from other products.
• Date vials/bottles at opening and follow pharmacy protocols for shelf life.
• Inspect medications weekly and remove expired items.
• Compare current MARs with new MARs during changeover and report discrepancies.
• Remove discontinued medications from cart and hand to supervisor.
• Provide personal care (bathing, grooming, eating) and routine nursing care (vital signs, etc.).
• Document information in daily logs and notify supervisor of concerns.
• Answer calls and assist residents as needed.
• Daily and weekly cleaning/restocking of medicine carts.
