Job summary

Senior Lifestyle seeks a Medication Technician to oversee self-administered meds in a state-compliant Assisted Living setting. You will follow MAR/TAR, provide basic nursing care, assist with ADLs, and maintain accurate daily logs.

Responsibilities include medication dispensing, dosage verification, supply management, and hygiene support. Candidates should have a HS diploma and a state-certified Med Tech credential, with strong communication in English.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1–3 months related experience or training.
• 1+ months of experience in Senior Living preferred.
• Current Medication Technician certification depending on state regulations.
• Acceptable proficiency in English to perform job duties and respond to emergencies.
• Basic computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Supervise self-administered medications in accordance with regulations and guidelines.
• Count and sign narcotics with approved personnel before accepting medication keys.
• Order medications and treatments; notify when supply is low (7 days).
• Notify supervisor when supply is <2 days and not received.
• Verify medicines against MAR; notify pharmacy and DH&W of discrepancies.
• Store medications properly; separate from oral meds.
• Date vials/bottles at opening and follow shelf-life protocol.
• Weekly inspections to remove expired medications.
• Compare current MAR with new MAR at changeover; report discrepancies.
• Remove discontinued medication from med cart and give to supervisor.
• Provide personal care: bathing, skin care, grooming, eating, etc.
• Provide general nursing care: vitals, temperature, BP, weight.
• Document information in daily log; notify supervisor of concerns.
• Answer calls and assist residents as assigned.
• Daily cleaning of medicine carts and restocking.
• Weekly deep cleaning of med carts.
• Attend staff trainings and in-services.
• Maintain medical charts for new admissions/readmissions within 48 hours.
