Guardian Life is seeking an Underwriting Large Case Specialist to serve as a senior technical expert in Life Underwriting for Financial Protection and Retirement Solutions. This remote role focuses on adjudicating the most complex cases, guiding peers in modern underwriting technologies, and ensuring competitive, customer-centric, and compliant decisions.

The ideal candidate has 15–20 years in individual life underwriting, expertise in high-dollar cases, and deep reinsurance knowledge.

Qualifications

• 15–20 years of experience in individual life underwriting
• Proven track record handling large, complex cases for high-net-worth applicants
• Education in FALU, FLMI or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of reinsurance including treaty language and retention limits

Responsibilities

• Serve as the large case underwriting and financial specialist, adjudicating the most complex and high-value cases
• Provide expert judgment and guidance on escalated cases
• Communicate with field partners and home office for information, negotiating appeals, and conveying decisions
• Build partnerships with distribution leaders, agencies, and field partners for alignment and service excellence
