Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in English/Journalism or 1 years of legal experience preferred
• Knowledge of style guides (Chicago, AP, Bluebook, California)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and core applications
• Strong written and verbal communication, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
• Ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced legal editing environment
• Familiarity with legal terminology and citation formats

Responsibilities

• Proofread complex legal documents to ensure consistency, spelling, dictation, syntax, punctuation, and grammar using the appropriate style guides
• Compare documents word-for-word against originals to ensure accurate conversion
• Review cross-references, defined terms, and Tables of Authorities for accuracy and style
• Check handwritten revisions against the working draft to ensure all corrections are made
• Conduct checks for format, text accuracy, and statistical data
• Ensure content is accurate, clear, and logically organized
• Use proofreading marks to note corrections
• Follow policies and procedures at all times
• Perform additional duties as assigned
