Job summary

RTX is seeking an experienced Electro‑Mechanical Engineer to lead opto‑mechanical and electro‑mechanical hardware development for state‑of‑the‑art defense products. The role bridges engineering with program management, balancing SOW deliverables, budgets, and schedules.

You will drive detailed component and system designs, manage obsolescence, and coordinate with cross‑functional teams to ensure top‑tier design and build quality. Travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with 10+ years experience or Advanced Degree with 7+ years experience.
• Experience in hardware engineering design, development, and production support.
• Experience across multiple DoD programs or similarly complex development efforts.
• Engineering analysis expertise: static, dynamic, and thermal mechanical analyses.
• Active DoD Secret clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in opto‑mechanical and electro‑mechanical design.
• Oversee drafting, structural/thermal analysis, EM simulations, IR drop, and PI/SI analyses.
• Serve as liaison between Program Office, Chief Engineer’s Office and suppliers.
• Track milestones, optimize resources, and coordinate cross‑functional teams.
• Manage obsolescence by qualifying replacement parts for rate production.
• Support supply chain, quality, and production teams.
• Prepare data packages for ERB, MRB, and Change Boards.
• Lead R&D and prototyping for new technologies.
• Develop environmental qualification test plans (shock, vibration, thermal cycling, EMI/EMC).
• Lead root‑cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
