Job summary

RTX seeks an experienced Electro‑Mechanical Engineer to lead opto‑mechanical and electro‑mechanical hardware development for state‑of‑the‑art defense products. You will balance SOW deliverables, budgets, and schedules while guiding cross‑functional teams across optical, systems, electrical, and manufacturing domains.

You will drive rigorous analysis, validation, and documentation, and contribute to IRAD initiatives. Expect travel up to 25% and active DoD Secret clearance as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with 10+ years of experience or advanced degree with 7+ years.
• Experience in hardware design, development, and production support.
• Exposure to multiple DoD programs or complex development efforts.
• Expertise in static, dynamic, and thermal mechanical analyses.
• Proven ability to meet stringent specs and compliance standards.
• Strong hands‑on mechanical and electrical aptitude; able to troubleshoot.
• Proficient in reading drawings and performing tolerance analyses.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills; DoD clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership over opto‑mechanical and electro‑mechanical design.
• Lead drafting, structural/thermal analysis, EM simulations, PI/SI analyses.
• Coordinate with Program Office, Chief Engineer, and suppliers.
• Track milestones, optimize resources, ensure top‑tier build quality.
• Manage obsolescence by qualifying replacement parts.
• Support procurement, QA, and manufacturing to maintain pipelines.
• Lead proofs‑of‑concept and IRAD initiatives.
• Develop environmental test plans and perform testing.
• Lead root‑cause investigations and corrective actions.
