Job summary

Torrey Holistics is a well-established contract machine shop specializing in large, high-value, low-volume precision components. The role focuses on setting up and operating CNC lathes and mills to produce tight-tolerance parts.

You will read engineering drawings with GD&T, input and troubleshoot G/M codes, optimize offsets, and maintain tool rigour while collaborating with teammates to resolve machining challenges. This is an in-person, on-site role with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on CNC setup and operation experience.
• Fanuc and Mazak control proficiency; strong G-code foundation; CAD/CAM familiarity.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand drawing features and GD&T.
• Deep understanding of tool offsets and changeovers.
• Own basic machinist tools.
• Proven problem-solving ability, solid math skills, and the discipline to follow written procedures.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills (2–5 axis) for large, low-volume (1–10 pcs) precision components.

• Input and adjust programs (G & M code), perform basic program troubleshooting, and optimize offsets and tooling.
• Use steady rest and tailstock properly for large-part rigidity and accuracy.
• Perform routine maintenance to keep machines at peak performance.
• Measure with precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, hand metrology) and verify all critical dimensions.
• Work closely with peers to quickly resolve machining challenges while upholding safety and quality standards.

A day in your life on our floorYou clock in, review a blueprint for a one-off, high-value component, and plan your setup on a modern turning center. With steady rest and tailstock dialed in, you load tools, apply your G-code know-how, and verify offsets. Throughout the run, you use micrometers and calipers to validate dimensions, make smart program edits, and collaborate with a teammate to troubleshoot a surface finish issue.
