Job summary

The University of Pennsylvania is seeking an IT Desktop/AV Support Specialist to provide advanced technical support for HireIT clients, including AV system deployment and client-facing services across campus locations. The role combines AV and IT duties with on-site and remote support, including events and meetings in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting hardware/software, maintaining knowledge bases, and partnering with vendors.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science and 2–3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
Strong customer service orientation and ability to work with diverse clients.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Familiarity with Windows and Mac support environments.

Responsibilities

Consultation and recommendations on audio/video solutions, including evaluation of new AV technologies.
Remote and on-site troubleshooting of A/V systems and digital signage; manage software/firmware updates.
Provide technical support for AV equipment during events, meetings, and hybrid setups.
Engage with clients daily via intake channels and desk-side support at multiple campus locations.
Establish and maintain relationships with clients, AV integrators, and vendors.
Participate in projects, keep deployment logs and configuration files updated.
Provide hands-on technical support and knowledge base contributions.
Engage in ongoing learning about new technology and professional development.
