Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced structural dynamics engineer to analyze interstage jettison events for New Glenn, including dynamic modeling of separation mechanisms with LS-DYNA. You will collaborate with mechanical engineers to optimize architectures and derive component-level requirements, supporting safe, repeatable spaceflight.

You will contribute to test planning, data reduction, and documentation, and communicate results in design reviews while maintaining schedules and status

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics.
• 8+ years of experience in dynamic/structural analysis within aerospace/defense.
• U.S. citizenship or eligible status (Green Card/Asylum status acceptable).
• Experience with spacecraft/launch vehicle separation and vehicle dynamics.
• Expertise with LS-DYNA.
• Familiarity with Abaqus Explicit, Ansys, Nastran, Optistruct, Hypermesh, Hypersizer.
• Ability to interpret 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform dynamic analysis of interstage jettison events using LS-DYNA.
• Create high-fidelity transient models of separation mechanisms.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers on separation architecture trade studies.
• Develop component-level requirements from analysis.
• Analyze metallic and composite flight hardware during dynamic events.
• Assist in test planning, data reduction, and analysis.
• Document margins of safety and qualification reports.
• Maintain system-level databooks and status reports.
• Present findings in design reviews and reports.
