Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced engineer to lead structural analysis for the New Glenn program. You will perform detailed hand calculations and FEA on primary and secondary structures, document stress analyses for release, and support testing campaigns with qualification reports.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate across teams, and help automate analysis workflows to improve accuracy and efficiency while ensuring compliance with aerospace requirements.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in engineering; M.S. preferred; 2+ years in aircraft/spacecraft/launch vehicle structures.
  • Proficiency with Nastran, Optistruct, Ansys or Abaqus.
  • Strong FEA skills with Ansys Mechanical/Abaqus/Hypermesh.
  • Experience with development and/or qualification testing.
  • Knowledge of aerospace structural requirements.
  • Familiarity with Bruhn/Niu/Roark sizing methods.
  • Experience with Fatigue and Fracture Analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Detailed hand calculations and FE analysis of primary and secondary aerospace structures.
  • Documentation of stress analysis to support release of drawings/documents.
  • Support test campaigns and create qualification reports.
  • Collaborate with other teams for configuration development and trade studies.
  • Mentor and perform analysis checks for designers and junior analysts.
  • Improve enterprise analysis by automating model creation, strength checks and reports.
  • Collaborate across disciplines and shop floor with diverse teams.
