Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced structural dynamics professional to join the Interstage Team. You will analyze flight hardware during dynamic events, develop high-fidelity models, and collaborate with mechanical engineers on separation system architectures to ensure safe and repeatable spaceflight.

The role emphasizes leadership, analytical rigor, and communicating results in design reviews, with opportunities to contribute to mission-critical aerospace programs and cost-saving

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in engineering or physics with 8+ years in dynamic/structural analysis.
• U.S. citizenship or eligible status is required.
• Experience on aircraft/spacecraft/launch vehicles or defense systems in dynamic/structural domains.
• Expertise with LS-DYNA and common FE codes (Abaqus, Ansys, Nastran, Optistruct, HyperMesh).
• Ability to interpret 3D CAD and 2D drawings; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform dynamic analysis of interstage jettison events using LS-DYNA and determine minimum clearances.
• Create high-fidelity transient models of high-energy separation mechanisms.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers on separation system architectures.
• Develop component-level requirements from analysis results.
• Perform structural analysis of metallic and composite flight hardware during dynamic events.
• Assist in test planning, screening, qualification, and data analysis.
• Prepare margin of safety summaries and qualification reports.
