Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Senior Inpatient Medical Coder for a remote role. You will code inpatient hospital services (ICD-10-CM/PCS) and determine DRG impact, while adhering to official guidelines and client coding guidelines.

Training is provided with hours 8:00 AM–5:00 PM during training, then telecommute from anywhere in the U.S. Requires AHIMA/AAPC certification (RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCS-P/CPC/H), 3+ years inpatient coding, 2+ years in Level 2 trauma centers or teaching hospitals, and

Qualifications

• AHIMA/AAPC certification required and maintained annually.
• 3+ years of Acute Care inpatient medical coding experience in hospital/facility.
• 2+ years of ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG coding experience, including CC/MCC considerations.
• Experience in Level 2 trauma center and/or teaching hospital environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient services and DRG impact.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart reviews as needed.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity per guidelines.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when appropriate.
• Stay current with coding knowledge from QM Manager and Director of Coding/Quality Management.
• Participate in coding department meetings and educational events.
