Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a senior medical coder to identify CPT-4 assignments for inpatient hospital services and to abstract data elements during chart reviews. The role requires AHIMA/AAPC credentials and 5+ years of coding experience, including hospitalist/intensivist coding.

You will work remotely from anywhere in the U.S., with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and productivity, and you will participate in ongoing coding education and department meetings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current AHIMA or AAPC credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC or CPC-H).
• 5+ years of coding experience; 2+ years in Hospitalist and Intensivist coding.
• Proficiency with Windows, MS Excel, EMR and billing systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify assignment of CPT-4 and modifiers for Inpatient professional services.
• Abstract data elements during chart review when coding.
• Adhere to coding ethics per AAPC/AHIMA standards.
• Maintain performance in coding quality and productivity as per Optum360.
