Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a Senior Inpatient Facility Certified Medical Coder for a remote position. You will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient services, ensure DRG accuracy, and adhere to coding guidelines. Training is provided and telecommuting is supported nationwide.

Requirements include AHIMA/AAPC credentials and 3+ years of acute care inpatient coding, plus Excel and EMR proficiency. The role emphasizes data quality, ethics, and ongoing learning within a remote work environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P CPC, OR CPC-H) maintained annually.
• 3+ years of Acute Care inpatient medical coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify ICD-10-CM/PCS coding for inpatient services and DRG impact per guidelines.
• Abstract data elements during chart review when coding.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians.
• Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge via QM Manager and Coding Ops leadership.
• Participate in coding dept meetings and education events.
