Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a professional Medical Coder with inpatient and DRG expertise for hospital-based coding. You will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, review charts, and ensure compliance with coding guidelines.

The role emphasizes accuracy, productivity, and ongoing education within a collaborative team. You will collaborate with providers, query physicians when needed, and participate in department meetings.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Acute Care Inpatient medical coding experience.
• 3+ years of DRG coding experience with complex procedures.
• 3+ years of ICD-10-PCS procedure coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify assignment of ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient services.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review as needed.
• Adhere to AAPC/AHIMA ethical coding standards.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity as per Optum360 guidelines.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when appropriate.
• Stay updated on coding knowledge through QM Manager communications.
• Participate in coding department meetings and educational events.
• Review and maintain charts coded, held, or missing.
