Job summary

Advocate Health in Baton Rouge, LA, seeks an experienced Inpatient Coding Specialist to review complex documentation and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes. The role requires adherence to coding guidelines and collaboration with CDI and Quality teams to ensure proper DRG alignment.

Employing 40 hours weekly, you will work with departments across cardiology, neurology, and oncology. AAPC or AHIMA certification is required, with at least an Associate's degree in Health Information

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Health Information Management is required.
• 7+ years' inpatient coding experience in an acute care setting is typically required.
• Advanced knowledge of ICD, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Ensure code selection follows Official Coding Guidelines and regulations.
• Maintain quality targets (≥95%) and productivity standards.
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to align DRG assignments.
• Stay current with coding guidelines and participate in payer audits.
