Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. in Hartford, CT seeks a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer - Network to drive reliability and performance of our global network infrastructure.

You will partner with software, operations and network teams to define standards, automate pipelines, and set SLOs for high-availability. You'll mentor colleagues, influence architectural decisions, and contribute to code quality on distributed systems using Python/Go/Bash, with CI/CD tooling like Jenkins, Github Actions, and

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience and a Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science or its equivalent.
• Experience in a Site or Network Reliability Engineering, Network Engineering, Software Engineering, or DevOps role with large-scale distributed systems.
• Advanced proficiency with configuration management tools (Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet).
• Experience with Linux networking and open source networking software (FRR, Bird, goBGP).
• Understanding of TCP/IP, OSI, and Cisco/Juniper routing equipment.
• Experience coding in Python, Bash, or Go and using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD.

Responsibilities

• Partner across teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and usability of network infrastructure, products, and services.
• Define requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence designs and standards.
• Develop automation pipelines to support development, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Define SLOs for network infrastructure within Akamai Connected Cloud for high availability and performance.
• Work with Dev and QA teams to improve code quality and stability.
• Mentor team members and drive code quality standards and architectural decisions.
