Job summary

FNTS in the United States is seeking a Sr. IBM iSeries Engineer to maintain customer IBM i environments, plan migrations, and support break/fix capacity. The role works with a managed services engineering team and contributes to DR planning, OS upgrades, and automation using Halcyon, Robot, MIMIX, iTera, and PowerHA.

Remote, work-from-home position available nationwide. Must have unrestricted work authorization and no sponsorship required. Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• IBM iSeries System Administration with 10+ years of experience.
• Knowledge of i/OS versions from V5R4 to V7R3 and differentiators.
• POWER systems hardware knowledge.
• Experience configuring LPARs using HMC.
• Storage management in JBOD, RAID, and SAN environments.
• Printer configurations and TCP/IP setup in IPv4 (IPv6 desired).
• Experience with backup/restore and software replication (MIMIX, iTera, PowerHA).
• Experience with OS upgrades and PTF deployment.
• Experience with automation and monitoring tools (Halcyon, absMessage, Robot).
• CL programming/d debugging skills.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents and requests with in-depth analysis to meet SLAs.
• Review issues to proactively prevent future problems.
• Perform reporting functions as requested by the customer.
• Prepare DR testing/planning, OS upgrades, PTF deployment.
• Maintain IBM i OS and LPPs configuration.
• Write and maintain system documentation.
• Assist customers in migration to FNTS or remote management setup.
• Implement technologies per team roadmap (Live Partition Mobility and new hardware/OS capabilities).
• Install new software releases with customer timing/testing.
• Maintain golden/sandbox systems for templates.
• Participate in infrastructure projects as IBM i SME.
