Job summary

FNTS is seeking a Sr. IBM iSeries Engineer to join a managed services team. You will maintain customer IBM i environments and resolve complex issues while planning migrations, backups, and system expansions. This role emphasizes uptime, proactive problem avoidance, and close collaboration with customers.

Qualifications

• IBM iSeries System Administration with 10+ years experience.
• Knowledge of i/OS from V5R4 to V7R3 and major differentiators.
• POWER systems hardware familiarity.
• Experience configuring LPARs via HMC.
• Storage management across JBOD/RAID/SAN and performance differences.
• Printer configurations expertise.
• TCP/IP setup in IPv4 environments.
• Journal management understanding.
• Software-based replication (MIMIX, iTera, PowerHA).
• BRMS backup solutions for recovery/migration.
• Tape library configuration/implementation knowledge.
• OS upgrades and PTF deployment experience.
• Use of MPG and other performance tools.
• Experience with Halcyon, absMessage, Robot monitoring/automation.
• CL coding and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication (written, verbal, presentations).
• Familiarity with AV/AR, Flash Copy, Global Mirror.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents and requests with in-depth analysis and solutions.
• Review issues to proactively avoid future problems.
• Perform reporting functions as required by customer.
• Plan and execute OS upgrades and PTF deployments.
• Maintain IBM i OS and LPP configurations.
• Assist migration to FNTS or remote management setup.
• Contribute to team roadmap and deploy new technologies.
