Job summary

FNTS, a leading managed IT services provider, seeks a Sr. IBM iSeries Engineer to maintain customer IBM i environments and drive data-driven problem solving. You will support migration, backups and break/fix activities with a focus on reliability and security.

The role is remote (work-from-home) nationwide in the US, with a compensation package outlined and no sponsorship required. You will join a team that values continuous improvement and robust monitoring across platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience as IBM iSeries System Administrator (10+ years).
• Knowledge of i/OS systems from V5R4 to V7R3 and differentiators.
• Experience with POWER systems hardware.
• Experience configuring LPARs using the Hardware Management Console.
• Storage management in JBOD, RAID, and SAN environments; understand performance differences.
• Knowledge of printer configurations.
• Experience configuring TCP/IP (IPv4/IPv6).
• Journal management experience.
• Software based replication (MIMIX, iTera, PowerHA).
• BRMS backup solutions for system recovery/migration.
• Familiarity with physical/virtual tape libraries.
• OS upgrades, PTF deployment and software installation via Image Catalog.
• Experience with MPG performance tools.
• Experience deploying Halcyon, absMessage, Robot products.
• Experience coding and debugging CL.
• Self-motivated with independent work ethic.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of AV/AR, web query, Flash Copy, Global Mirror.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents and requests with in-depth analysis and solutions.
• Review issues to prevent recurrence as part of Continuous Improvement.
• Perform reporting functions as requested by customers.
• Prepare for DR testing/planning, OS upgrades, PTF deployment.
• Maintain IBM i OS and LPPs configurations.
• Write and maintain system documentation.
• Assist customers with migration to FNTS or remote management setup.
• Contribute to team roadmap and enable new offerings.
• Install new OS & major subsystem releases with testing and timing.
