Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Electrical/Mechanical engineer for a hybrid role focused on instrumentation and control design for nuclear power projects. You will design digital control systems, participate in client liaison activities, and prepare detailed calculations and specifications for plant equipment.

You will collaborate across teams, review documents, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to automation initiatives, including AI-enabled workflows.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Five or more years of experience in I&C Design Engineering.
• Experience with equipment selection, control philosophy, and the preparation and assembly of design packages, calculations, and specifications.
• Experience with controls system design including applications for turbines, pumps, feedwater controls, and data displays.
• Experience with serving as the firm's client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
• Experience in reviewing design documentation.
• PE license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop digital control systems including PLCs, DCS, and HMI interfaces.
• Collaborate with project teams and clients to validate scope and ensure satisfaction.
• Prepare detailed calculations, including scale, uncertainty, and setpoints for digital and analog controls.
• Interface with vendors for equipment specs and procurement.
• Review and mentor engineers on designs and drawings to ensure quality.
• Contribute to community of practice and ongoing automation initiatives.
