Job summary

Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group is seeking an experienced I&C Design Engineer to join a hybrid, office-and-site team in Warrenville, IL. You will work on digital systems, control philosophy, and equipment procurement for new and existing nuclear plants, guiding teams and interfacing with clients and vendors.

The role emphasizes problem-solving, mentoring, and leveraging automation tools (Python, MATLAB, Excel) while delivering rigorous design packages on schedule.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree required.
• 5+ years of experience in I&C design engineering.
• Experience with equipment selection, control philosophy, and design packages.
• Controls system design for turbines, pumps, feedwater controls, and data displays.
• Experience as a client liaison in a lead engineering role.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams to take engineering problems from issue to solution using data and automation.
• Direct automation and process-improvement work and oversee AI-enabled workflows.
• Review and approve design documentation, specifications, and calculations.
• Interface with vendors to review documents and prepare equipment purchase specs.
• Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information to meet client requirements.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and support career development.
