Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in the United States seeks an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to work on digital upgrades for large nuclear power projects. You will lead design activities, perform calculations, review drawings, and interface with vendors in a hybrid, in-office schedule.

This role emphasizes leadership, client liaison, and applying modern tools to improve workflows. A BS or MS in engineering and 10+ years in I&C for heavy industrial plants are required; PE license is a plus.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in instrumentation and controls design for heavy industrial plants.
• Knowledge of available equipment and pre-engineered systems for design execution.
• Experience liaising with clients/firm in support or lead roles is desirable.
• Ability to review design drawings prepared by others.

Responsibilities

• Develop and market high level, complex programs for nuclear power projects in design, safety, and project management.
• Direct technical decision making in a project team with engineers and designers for digital upgrades.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve instrumentation & controls engineering issues.
• Coordinate system design activities to meet specifications, codes, and client needs.
• Perform Digital Systems Design Development for PLC, DCS, HSI, and networked systems.
• Interface with vendors and prepare equipment purchase specifications.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope and satisfaction.
• Support station outage activities as required.
