Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Greenville, SC is seeking a senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to lead digital upgrade projects for nuclear power plants. You will direct technical decisions in a collaborative project team, designing PLC, DCS, HSI, and networked control systems, and interfacing with vendors to meet client requirements.

The role involves preparing system specifications, performing complex calculations, and supporting outage activities.

Qualifications

• A BS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• 10+ years of experience in instrumentation & controls design for heavy industrial plants in a project team environment.
• Experience supporting nuclear plant projects from design, planning, testing, contracting, and project execution.
• Knowledge of available equipment and pre-engineered systems for systems design.
• Experience as a liaison to clients or team leads is desirable.
• Experience reviewing design drawings created by others.

Responsibilities

• Develop and market high-level control programs for nuclear projects.
• Lead technical decision-making in project teams.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve I&C engineering issues.
• Coordinate design activities to meet specifications and client requirements.
• Design Digital Systems (PLC, DCS, HSI) and networked controls.
• Prepare system requirement specs and analyses, reviews.
• Interface with vendors for equipment specs and purchases.
• Prepare reports and design documentation for client reviews.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope.
• Support outage activities as required.
