Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer for nuclear power projects. Lead design efforts for digital upgrades and complex control systems in a heavy industrial setting, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Requires a BS in engineering from an ABET-accredited program and 20+ years of experience in I&C design. Strong client liaison and drawing review skills are desirable; multiple benefits are offered including flexible work arrangements.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 20+ years designing instrumentation and controls systems for heavy industrial plants in a project team environment.
• Knowledge of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems to execute design.
• Experience liaising with firms/clients in a lead or support engineering role is desirable.
• Experience reviewing design drawings prepared by others.

Responsibilities

• Develop and market high-level, complex programs for nuclear power projects involving design, operations, safety, and management.
• Direct technical decision-making within a project team alongside engineers and designers for digital upgrades.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve instrumentation & controls engineering issues.
• Coordinate design activities to meet specifications, codes, and client requirements.
• Design digital systems (PLC, DCS, HSI) and prepare functional specs and reviews.
• Work on FOAK projects for the nuclear industry and support digital modernization.
• Prepare and review calculations for analog and digital controls, including setpoints.
• Prepare input documentation for drawings, cables, and schematics; interface with vendors.
• Prepare technical reports and studies presenting findings clearly for clients.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope.
• Support station outage activities as required.
