Job summary

McMillen, Inc. seeks a Senior Applied Hydraulics Engineer to lead hydraulic engineering for large water resources projects, including dams, energy, fisheries, and infrastructure.

You will guide multidisciplinary teams, drive technically rigorous solutions, and integrate environmental and construction perspectives from concept through commissioning. The role demands a PE license, extensive experience, and the ability to travel up to 25% while contributing to business development and strategic

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Hydraulic Engineering is required.
• Master’s degree in Civil or Hydraulic Engineering is required.
• 20 years of experience in hydraulic engineering.
• 10 years of project management experience preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Experience with FERC regulations is preferred.
• Demonstrated skills in stakeholder engagement, persuasion and negotiation of critical issues.
• Proven ability to integrate resources and lead high-performing project teams.
• Ability to contribute to key business operations and strategic decisions.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead discussions, meetings, and workshops for project teams and clients.
• Ensure work elements meet quality standards and requirements.
• Initiate and lead marketing and business development pursuits.
• Identify and pursue opportunities with clients to support growth.
• Prepare reports, letters, memoranda, drawings, and specs across components.
• Oversee QA/QC reviews per client requirements and company policies.
• Manage risks associated with deliverables and work products.
• Participate in strategic initiatives development and execution.
• Direct workloads and hold staff accountable for performance.
• Train, evaluate, recruit, and mentor staff to develop future leaders.
