Job summary

Walmart West Columbia seeks an experienced HVAC/R technician to install, calibrate, and service commercial refrigeration systems across facilities. You will interpret schematics, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure compliance with building codes and EPA refrigerant handling standards.

You will lead and train technicians and apprentices, coordinate with managers, and participate in on-call rotations to address critical issues outside regular hours.

Qualifications

• HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field.
• Or 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for HVAC/R and building controls.
• EPA Type I/II or Universal refrigerant handling certification.
• HVAC-R/Mechanical Journeyman where required.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.
• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI in last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Install HVAC and refrigeration systems including ductwork, control panels, and building pneumatics.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues on commercial/industrial systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance to extend equipment life and minimize downtime.
• Lead field teams and mentor apprentices on technical procedures and safety.
