Job summary

HDR seeks a Senior HV Underground Transmission Line Engineer in Houston to oversee high‑voltage underground, submarine cable and HVDC projects (69kV–500kV). You will mentor engineering teams, coordinate with program/project managers and guide technical design, execution, and client relations across multiple offices.

The role requires strong leadership, 10+ years in underground/HV design, PE license, and proficiency with design tools (CDEGS/CYMCAP, PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and PE license.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in underground, submarine and HVDC design.
• Proficient with PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe and Revit.
• Track record leading teams across multiple office locations.
• Some travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Partner with program/project managers to plan, direct and monitor project teams handling underground line engineering scope.
• Lead development and implementation of project execution and quality plans; conduct regular audits.
• Ensure teams follow client/program technical standards and remain trained on implementations.
• Coordinate with PMs to advise clients on technical matters.
• Mentor Engineering Managers in multiple offices on design and proposal development.
