Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior HV Underground Transmission Line Engineer to lead and mentor teams on high‑voltage underground and submarine cable projects. The role focuses on design excellence, client coordination, and multi‑office collaboration across a range from 69 kV to 500 kV.

You will drive project execution plans, oversee quality assurance, and contribute to technical papers and industry presentations while supporting growth in HDR’s HVDC underground design capabilities. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• Minimum 10 years in underground, submarine cable and HVDC design.
• PE license and experience in Power Market sector projects.
• Proven mentoring and leadership across multiple offices.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and monitor project teams on underground line engineering.
• Develop and audit project execution and quality plans; conduct audits.
• Ensure teams follow client standards and receive training.
• Coordinate with managers to advise clients on technical matters.
• Monitor resources and staffing across offices; address staffing concerns.
• Interface with other discipline leads on projects.
• Mentor engineers on design, proposals, risk, and schedules.
• Lead multiple projects across locations concurrently.
• Assist in developing technical papers/presentations for events.
• Lead hiring and growth strategies for HDR HV underground design.
• Participate in project reviews as needed.
