Job summary

HDR is a leading global engineering firm seeking a Senior HV Underground Transmission Line Engineer in the United States. The role focuses on high‑voltage underground and submarine cable projects to shape the future of power distribution.

You will lead project teams, mentor engineers, and coordinate with managers across offices to deliver design, scheduling, and risk mitigation. Travel may be required; PE license and 10+ years are preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
A minimum of 10 years of experience.
Professional Engineers (PE) license.
Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
Proficient with Power Market Sector design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).
Active participant in an employee‑owned culture.

Responsibilities

Plan, direct, and monitor project teams executing technical underground line engineering.
Develop and implement project execution and quality plans with audits.
Ensure teams follow client standards and training.
Coordinate with managers to advise clients on technical matters.
Monitor resources, staffing, and workload forecasts across offices.
Mentor Engineering Managers in underground transmission design and risk management.
Lead multiple projects concurrently across locations.
Develop technical papers/presentations for industry events.
Lead hiring and growth strategy for HV underground and HVDC design.
