Job summary

Right Hire Consulting LLC is seeking a Senior High Voltage Cable Design Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and optimization of underground HV/EHV transmission cable systems. You will guide projects from concept through field deployment, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with ICEA, AEIC, IEC, and IEEE standards.

Responsibilities include modeling electro-mechanical behavior, preparing specifications, supporting manufacturing, and presenting at meetings and conferences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; required
• 10+ years of experience in underground power transmission engineering
• Expertise with ICEA, AEIC, IEC, and IEEE standards; strong thermal, mechanical and electrical calculations
• Strong technical writing and communication skills for interfacing with customers and internal teams
• Proficiency in Cymcap, Comsol Multiphysics, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Matlab, PSCAD, Pull Planner and MS Office

Responsibilities

• Lead design of HV/EHV cable systems and components
• Model electro-mechanical behavior of cable systems for installations and field use
• Prepare specifications, proposals, and safety documents with cross-functional teams
• Support manufacturing with testing plans and issue resolution
• Lead investigations and develop solutions for technical challenges
• Manage R&D projects with Stage Gate process, timelines and budgets
• Represent engineering in customer meetings and conferences, delivering presentations
• Mentor junior engineers on calculations, designs and project management
• Promote safety and regulatory compliance at project sites
