Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a Senior Underground Transmission Engineer to lead multi-disciplinary teams in designing underground transmission projects from 34.5kV to 500kV.

This senior role blends deep technical expertise with proven leadership to deliver a diverse project portfolio. You will interface with planning, environmental, permitting and construction management, mentor staff, drive schedules, manage client relations, and pursue new opportunities, while upholding QA/QC

Qualifications

• 5+ years of underground transmission, underground distribution, cable systems, power delivery, or underground utility design.
• Experience leading an engineering team with resource management, delegation, and oversight.
• Experience providing technical direction for a department or organization.
• Experience with transmission systems rated 69kV or higher.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical staff in the preparation of utility engineering designs, cost estimates, and customer billing documentation across a portfolio of transmission projects.
• Manage the engineering aspects of multiple concurrent projects ranging from 34.5kV to 500kV, ensuring technical quality, schedule performance, and client satisfaction.
• Participate in developing project schedules and defining technical staffing needs for projects and daily work assignments.
• Mentor and develop technical staff through instruction in engineering principles, governing electrical and safety codes, and applied transmission design practices.
• Collaborate with other departments and divisions on company-wide initiatives and cross-functional project efforts.
• Maintain strong, trust-based relationships with existing clients while identifying opportunities to expand the firm’s footprint with prospective clients.
