Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior System Protection Engineer to join our Grid Services team. The role emphasizes system protection engineering, including relay settings, protection philosophies, and power system studies, with a focus on supporting P&C design for HV transmission and substations.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years in protection engineering, experience with CAPE/ASPEN, and a strong ability to coordinate with utility clients and project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• 7 or more years of experience in system protection engineering for transmission and/or substation projects, including hands-on responsibility for relay settings and protection studies.
• Experience with CAPE and/or ASPEN (or equivalent protection analysis tools) and configuring protective relays.

Responsibilities

• Perform system protection studies, including short‑circuit analysis and relay coordination.
• Develop protection settings and verification using CAPE/ASPEN (or equivalent).
• Configure, set, and troubleshoot microprocessor-based protective relays using vendor software (e.g., SEL AcSELerator, EnerVista).
• Prepare P&C design documents (one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring, logic diagrams).
• Support commissioning and field energization, including reviewing relay test plans and responding to RFIs.
