Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an experienced POWER Testing and Energization Field Services Technician to support projects across multiple states. The role involves on-site testing of Protection and Control systems in high voltage substations, using Omicron and Doble test equipment, with field data capture and collaboration across teams.

The position requires 7+ years in electrical testing, HV equipment expertise, and strong safety practice. Travel up to 80% is expected in a dynamic field setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 7 years in the electrical testing industry, including HV equipment testing.
• Experience with transmission, generation, and distribution relays and protective schemes.
• Protection relay testing using test sets and microprocessor relays.
• Knowledge of testing standards (NETA, IEEE, NFPA).
• Ability to read electrical drawings and document field data.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing and commissioning tasks for Protection and Control systems on high voltage substations.
• Conduct on-site protective relay testing using Omicron CMC 256/356 or Doble F6150.
• Document site activities with field forms, digital tools, and mobile apps.
• Assist Project Lead or Field Supervisor and escalate complex issues as needed.
• Maintain logs, drawings, and photo documentation with attention to detail.
• Collaborate with technicians to ensure safety, quality, and timely delivery.
