Job summary
Shermco Industries is seeking a Protection and Control Technician in Atlanta to install, commission, test, and maintain protective relay equipment and RTUs for HV systems. You will perform functional testing on protection circuits in transformers, lines, breakers, and bus hardware, and upgrade RTUs and telecom for diverse clients.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years in electrical testing with protection/controls, experience with SEL/GE/ABB relays, RTU gear, and familiarity with NERC CIP
Qualifications
- 5+ years in electrical testing focused on protection and control.
- Bachelor or technical diploma; military electrical training considered.
- Experience with SEL, GE, ABB, Westinghouse relays.
- Substation RTUs and telecom equipment experience.
- Project management experience for protection and control projects.
- Familiar with NERC CIP requirements.
Responsibilities
- Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relay equipment and RTUs.
- Perform functional testing for protection circuits in HV assets.
- Upgrade RTUs and telecom for clients.
- Review and document test reports for client and regulatory use.
- Read wiring/schematic diagrams and spot discrepancies.
- Manage time/expenses; maintain vehicle condition.
