Job summary

Shermco Industries is hiring a Protection and Control Technician to install, commission, test, and maintain protective relay equipment and related telecom gear. You will work with SEL and GE relays, RTUs, and various control systems in HV environments.

The role requires strong field skills, adherence to safety standards, and willingness to travel to client sites. A relevant engineering/technical background and 5+ years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in electrical testing with a focus on protection and control equipment
• BS in Engineering/Technology or technical training; military experience acceptable
• Experience with transmission and distribution relays (SEL, GE, ABB, Westinghouse) and RTU/telecom gear

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relay equipment.
• Perform functional testing for protection circuitry on HV assets.
• Upgrade RTUs and telecom equipment for clients.
• Read and interpret one-line, three-line, wiring diagrams; document discrepancies.
• Complete time and expense reports and maintain company vehicle upkeep.
