Job summary

Shermco Industries, Inc. seeks a Protection and Controls Technician to install, Commission, test, and maintain protective relay systems and related devices.

You will conduct functional testing of protection circuits for transmission lines, HV buses, transformers, and breakers, and support RTU/telecom upgrades for diverse clients. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in electrical testing with HV experience, plus familiarity with SEL/GE relays and NERC CIP requirements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in electrical testing focused on protection and control equipment.
• Experience with transmission and distribution relays (SEL/GE/ABB/Westinghouse).
• Familiar with substation RTUs, telecom equipment, and regulatory reporting.
• Knowledge of NERC CIP requirements and project scoping.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relay equipment and related devices.
• Perform functional testing for protection circuits on transmission lines and substations.
• Upgrade RTUs and telecom equipment for diverse clients and projects.
• Review and document test reports for client reporting and compliance.
• Interpret One-line / Three-line diagrams and configurations; highlight discrepancies.
• Complete time and expense reports and maintain company vehicle condition.
