Job summary

Shermco Industries is seeking a Protection and Control Technician to install, commission, test, and service protective relay equipment and RTU/telecom systems for HV substations and utilities.

The role requires 5+ years in electrical testing with protection/control focus, familiarity with SEL/GE/ABB relays, and ability to read schematics. Travel and field work are expected, with comprehensive benefits and ongoing training from Shermco.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in electrical testing with protection and control focus.
• BS in Engineering/Technology or technical training or military equivalent.
• Experience with SEL/GE/ABB/Westinghouse relays and RTU/telecom gear.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relay equipment and RTUs.
• Perform functional testing on protection/control circuits for substations.
• Review and submit test reports for client/regulatory purposes.
• Interpret wiring and schematic diagrams and note discrepancies.
• Complete time/expense reports and maintain vehicle condition.
