Job summary

Shermco Industries, Inc. is seeking a Protection and Controls Technician in the Denver area. You will install, test, and maintain protective relay equipment and RTUs while upgrading telecom systems for various clients.

The role requires 5+ years in electrical testing with HV experience, familiarity with SEL/GE/ABB relays, and NERC CIP knowledge. Expect field work, travel, and a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in electrical testing focusing on protection and control equipment.
• BS in Engineering/Tech or technical diploma, or military electrical training.
• Experience with SEL, GE, ABB and Westinghouse relays.
• Experience with substation RTUs and telecom equipment for projects.
• Experience with scoping, scheduling, budgeting for P&C projects.
• Project management in HV substations for utility clients.
• Familiar with NERC CIP requirements.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relay equipment and RTUs.
• Perform functional testing on protection circuits for lines, transformers, and breakers.
• Upgrade RTU and telecom systems for various clients.
• Review and submit test reports for client and regulatory needs.
• Read wiring/schematic diagrams and note discrepancies.
• Complete time/expense reports and maintain vehicle condition.
