Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior System Protection Engineer to join our Grid Services team. You’ll lead protection philosophies, settings, and power system studies for high‑voltage transmission and substation projects, while supporting P&C design and field commissioning.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited electrical engineering degree required.
• 7+ years in system protection engineering for transmission/substation projects.
• Hands-on relay settings, protection studies, and fault analysis experience.
• Familiarity with CAPE/ASPEN and relay configuration tools.
• Experience with P&C drawings and standards (IEEE/ANSI/NERC).
• Strong written/verbal communication and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of protection philosophies and settings for lines, transformers, buses, and capacitor banks.
• Conduct fault studies, relay coordination, and time-current analysis.
• Configure protective relays using SEL AcSELerator and EnerVista; maintain Powerbase data.
• Review and generate P&C design documents (one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams).
• Support commissioning, field questions, and align with client standards and NERC/IEEE rules.
