Job summary

WSP seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer Manager to lead complex infrastructure and development projects across New England from our Merrimack, NH office. This leadership role combines technical expertise with project management, client development, and team mentorship.

You will oversee geotechnical investigations, design, and reports for transportation, energy, building, and private development projects, while mentoring staff and supporting business development efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline with a geotechnical focus.
• 10+ years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in a New England state or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
• Experience leading geotechnical engineering design and construction projects.
• Strong project management, technical writing, and client-facing skills.
• Proficiency with geotechnical engineering software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively in both office and field environments.
• Willingness to travel as needed to support project and client requirements.
• Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical engineering projects from proposal and planning through design, construction, and project closeout.
• Provide technical oversight for geotechnical investigations, subsurface exploration programs, foundation design, slope stability evaluations, retaining structures, and earthwork projects.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, quality, and client deliverables.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to deliver successful project outcomes.
• Review and prepare engineering reports, specifications, calculations, and construction documents.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff.
• Support business development activities, client relationship management, and proposal pursuits.
• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and safety policies.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
