Job summary

Travelers Insurance in Downers Grove, Illinois is seeking a Technical Specialist, General Liability to manage and investigate active injury and property damage claims from first notice of loss through resolution. You will determine coverage, evaluate liability, establish reserves, and issue payments within authority while maintaining professional relationships with customers and stakeholders.

You will lead claim reps, coordinate with counsel on litigation strategies, and adapt to new technology

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant experience in liability or claims handling.
• Minimum three years of liability, bodily injury or comparable claim experience.
• Two years of litigation claim experience.
• Active adjuster license where required by state law.
• Experience with claims management systems and enterprise tech.

Responsibilities

• independently manage an active caseload of injury and/or property damage claims and litigation from first notice of loss through resolution within authority.
• gather and thoroughly investigate information to determine coverage, liability, and reserves.
• provide timely and professional communication to customers, attorneys, and internal stakeholders.
• leverage resolution strategies and coordinate resources for investigations and evaluations.
• negotiate settlements within authority and issue payments timely and accurately.
• assist Counsel in litigation management strategies.
• maintain accurate records in claim management systems.
• identify opportunities to improve best practices and implement solutions.
• adapt to new technologies and AI tool rollouts while maintaining productivity.
