Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Full Stack/Edifecs-focused tester for a remote role with the Veterans Affairs department. The candidate should have extensive experience in manual and automated testing, Agile/Scrum, SDLC, and Edifecs knowledge, and be able to work independently while communicating clearly with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Proven track record on complex software projects and high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and SDLC understanding.
• Proficiency writing and executing test cases, test scripts, and test plans.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with version control (Git, SVN).
• Understanding of performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling).
• Knowledge of languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
• Experience with defect tracking (JIRA, Bugzilla).
• Experience with COTS products.
• Understanding of security testing practices.
• Knowledge of testing types: functional, regression, integration, system, Usability, UAT.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and deadlines.
• Translate business requirements into test scenarios.
• Experience with test management tools.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices.
• Ability to conduct test reviews and feedback.
• Familiarity with cloud-based testing (AWS, Azure).

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test procedures to ensure IT products meet standards.
• Develop test plans and schedules and define testing approaches.
• Write test cases and scripts and identify data for test scenarios.
• Conduct walkthroughs with Test Managers and Developers.
• Perform and lead tests to ensure proper operation and defect-free software.
• Verify work products using defined methods and environments.
• Document and communicate test results and progress.
• Support analysis of test results and issue resolution.
• Document and resolve complex problems.
• Report progress on problem resolution to management.
• Devise improvements to procedures and future configurations.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting.
• Occasionally perform other IT system engineering activities.
• Receive assignments and establish goals to meet objectives.
• Provide direction to employees per policies and management guidance.
• Measure objective achievement and impact.
• Provide technical solutions to hard problems.
• Independently determine and develop solution approaches.
