Job summary

Reddit is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Consumer Engineering organization. You will own end-to-end delivery for major product initiatives, translate business needs into scalable, low-latency services, and collaborate with PMs, designers, data scientists, and client engineers.

You will design and run A/B experiments using BigQuery, HEX, and Firebase, build scalable APIs (GraphQL, REST, gRPC), and champion engineering best practices at scale in a fully remote or hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience in large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience translating business needs into reliable, low-latency services.
• Experience collaborating with product, design, data science, and client engineers.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, and Client Engineers to translate needs into scalable solutions.
• Own the full software lifecycle for major product initiatives from design to rollout and observability.
• Design, build, and evaluate A/B experiments using analytics tools to drive data-backed decisions.
