Job summary

Reddit’s Consumer Engineering organization seeks a Product Backend Engineer to own the end-to-end delivery of high-scale features for hundreds of millions of users. You’ll partner with PMs, designers, data scientists, ML engineers, and frontend engineers to translate user needs into reliable backend systems.

You’ll design and ship APIs, improve observability, and drive data-informed experiments, using GraphQL/REST/gRPC, BigQuery, and modern tooling in a fully remote or hybrid team setting.

Qualifications

• 7+ years backend development in distributed systems.
• Experience with high-concurrency services.
• Strong collaboration across product and data teams.

Responsibilities

• Translate business and user needs into reliable back-end solutions.
• Own end-to-end delivery from design to rollout and observability.
• Design and evaluate A/B experiments using data tools.
• Build scalable APIs (GraphQL, REST, gRPC) and backend services.
• Mentor teammates and improve developer workflows with AI tools.
