Reddit Consumer Engineering is hiring a backend-focused Product Engineer to design and deliver large-scale services that power hundreds of millions of users. You will partner with product, design, data science, and client teams to ship reliable features end-to-end and drive experiments for growth and retention.

You will work across GraphQL, REST, and gRPC APIs, applying modern tooling and AI-assisted workflows to accelerate development in a fast-paced, remote/hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on backend development experience in large-scale distributed systems.
• Customer-focused, able to translate user needs into scalable backend solutions.
• Experience designing experiments and analyzing metrics with Data Scientists and PMs.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product Management, Product Design, Data Science, and Client Engineers to translate business and user needs into reliable, low-latency technical solutions.
• Own the full software lifecycle for major product initiatives from design docs to rollout and observability.
• Design, build, and evaluate A/B experiments using analytics tools to drive data-backed decisions.
• Build and maintain scalable APIs (GraphQL, REST, gRPC) and distributed backend services for client consumption.
• Establish engineering best practices, improve developer workflows, and mentor teammates.
