Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Staff FPGA Engineer to lead FPGA design for space-grade hardware. You will drive HDL development, verification, and deployment across programs, collaborating with system engineering, hardware, and software teams.

The ideal candidate has extensive FPGA experience, radiation-tolerant devices, and strong communication skills to present design reviews and proposals to customers and executives.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited university.
• 12 years of FPGA design, analysis, and HDL implementation experience.
• Proficiency in VHDL and/or Verilog design capture.
• Experience with radiation-tolerant FPGA devices (e.g., Versal, UltraScale+, RFSoC).
• Expertise in FPGA synthesis, place & route, timing closure, and verification.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead FPGA design and verification for space-based programs per standards.
• Collaborate with system engineering, hardware, and software teams to define FPGA architecture.
• Develop architecture from system requirements, select parts, and estimate SWAP-C.
• Present design reviews and contribute to proposals.
• Mentor junior FPGA designers to improve efficiency and quality.
• Track emerging technologies to guide future space products.
